MCG helps plan successful dialog conference and presents renewable energy facilitation techniques

Boston, November 2010: Meister Consultants group (MCG) is proud to have been a partner for the sold-out dialogue and deliberation event: From Polarization to Problem Solving: a Learning Exchange on Public Engagement held on in Boston on October 29th. MCG was a co-leader of the conference planning committee and a sponsor for this highly successful regional event. The conference was attended by dialogue practitioners as well as government officials and community leaders who had the opportunity to share experiences working on public policy and community issues and gain insight into engagements that produced high-quality results.

MCG also led a workshop on facilitating renewable energy stakeholder engagements. The workshop was based on stakeholder sessions held on behalf of MCG’s client, the City University of New York (CUNY), which was the primary driver behind the development of New York City’s solar market strategy. The central goal of the workshop was to explore methods for engaging municipal stakeholders with a view to creating the right mix of public awareness, financial incentives, and permitting and regulatory structures to safely oversee solar installations. MCG’s workshop presenters, Peter Meister and Neil Veilleux, were pleased with the level of interest in this topic and the positive feedback they received on MCG’s work. “MCG regularly helps clients achieve successful outcomes through collaborative dialog processes and we were delighted to share this case study with others,” said MCG president Dr. Meister. Similarly, Mr. Veilleux noted that the workshop “was particularly timely, as it highlighted the fact that municipal policy-makers are realizing a greater need for stakeholder participation and facilitation to develop successful clean energy policy.”
